Privacy Policy — Poodle Scanner
This Privacy Policy explains how Marco Polo Research Lab ("MPR Lab", "we", "our", "us") collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use Poodle Scanner (the "Service").
1. Scope and Controller
Marco Polo Research Lab is the data controller for information processed through Poodle Scanner. This policy applies to our website, web application, and related support services.
2. Information We Collect
Account and authentication data
We use Google Identity Services to sign you in. We receive profile fields required to operate the account, including your name, email address, and profile image.
Service and scan data
We collect and store data you submit or generate in the Service, such as uploaded product IDs, catalog metadata, scoring rules, scan history, generated results, and saved crawl artifacts (including HTML snapshots and image derivatives used for rescoring and display).
Preferences and communications
We store account preferences and notification settings, and we process communications such as support requests. Platform launch waitlist signups may be handled by related MPRLab services such as LoopAware instead of being stored directly in ProductScanner.
Technical and diagnostics data
We process technical data such as IP address, user agent, timestamps, request metadata, and service logs for security, troubleshooting, abuse prevention, and reliability.
Billing and transaction data
We process credits and transaction metadata required to operate usage-based billing. If paid checkout is enabled, payment transactions are processed by our payment provider (such as Paddle), and we receive transaction metadata but not full payment card numbers.
3. How We Use Information
- Authenticate users and secure accounts.
- Operate scan, rescore, export, scheduling, and settings functionality.
- Deliver transactional emails and user-requested notifications.
- Operate credits, billing, reconciliation, and fraud prevention workflows.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve service reliability and performance.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
4. Google OAuth and Google User Data
Poodle Scanner uses Google OAuth only for sign-in and account identity. Google user data is not sold, and is not used for advertising. We use Google profile data solely to provide and secure the Service for the authenticated account.
If you disconnect your Google account or request account deletion, we stop further OAuth-based access for that account.
5. Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell personal information. We may share information with service providers strictly as needed to operate the Service, including identity/authentication providers, cloud hosting providers, analytics/support tooling, email delivery providers, billing/ledger infrastructure, and payment processors.
We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights or safety, or in a corporate transaction.
6. Cookies, Local Storage, and Analytics
- Session cookies are used for authentication and security.
- Browser local storage may store UI preferences such as theme settings.
- Google Analytics is used for aggregate usage analytics.
- Support and feedback widgets may collect interaction data needed to provide support.
7. Data Retention
We retain account and operational data for as long as needed to provide the Service and meet legal, accounting, and security obligations. Retention windows vary by data type and may include active account lifetime, operational backups, and financial recordkeeping periods.
8. Security
We use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including access controls, transport security, and monitoring. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. International Transfers
We and our providers may process data in multiple countries. When data is transferred across borders, we use appropriate contractual and operational safeguards required by applicable law.
10. Your Rights and Choices
